DOI, 2010 is Gonna Be Fun

Written by Keith on December 15, 2009

So, what cold hard fact do I have in regards to 2010?  Not too many, buuuuuut:

Here are the 2010 tour dates that we seem to have confirmed so far:
Jan 15 - Brooklyn, NY -  Lombardy (w/ The Yummy Fur)
Feb 04 - Upland, IN -    Taylor University
Feb 05 - Chicago, IL -  Lincoln Hall
Feb 06 - Appleton, WI -  Lawrence University - Warch Campus
There will probably be one or two more dates added to this mini-tour, quite possibly other college shows.  Just to be up front, I currently have no idea as to whether or not these shows are students-only or if they are open-to-the-public shows.  College shows are a real grab bag when it comes to those details, but as soon as I find out, I will update the site with more info.  We all would hate to travel to your town and then find out you can’t get in, so we’ll do some snooping for you.

I realize I haven’t updated our Flickr in a while, so I’m putting up some pictures there today.  Here is a sneak peak from the last tour that we went on:

Highlights of that tour included:  Darwin Deez’s dance moves, Halloween in Toronto with the Throw Me the Statue dudes (I will try to get pictures from them to upload to our site as well), video game night at our friend Doug’s house (Critter Crunch is fuuuuuun), family times in Texas and Arkansas, being heckled in a Montana hotel by a drunk man who kept calling us all a bunch of virgins, Jarred from TMTS’ dog, and the Bell House finale which turned into an all-out dance party.

I miss the people from that tour.  We really couldn’t have lucked out with better touring mates than Darwin Deez and Throw Me the Statue.  The tour was fun, in large part, due to the camaraderie between the three bands.  So, thanks again to the 8 people from those 2 bands.  In fact, thanks to all the bands we toured with this year.  They are all great and you’d be doing yourself a favor checking them all out:
Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band - http://www.myspace.com/mtsthelensvietnamband
Singsing and Marmar - http://www.myspace.com/singsingmarmar
Miniature Tigers - http://www.myspace.com/miniaturetigers
Electric Owls - http://www.myspace.com/electricowls
Darwin Deez - http://darwindeez.com/Site_3/___.html
Throw Me The Statue - http://throwmethestatue.com/

In conclusion, here are some recommendations for your day:
My current favorite band is a band in Austin, Tx called Soft Healer.  Check out the song Souer on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/softhealering
Bookwise, I just read that Zeitoun book by Dave Eggers, which was good, and I’m currently reading This is Orson Welles, which is interviews with Welles and Bodgonavich.  Pretty interesting.
Good movies I’ve seen lately:  Paris, Texas (holds up time and time again), Die Hard (ditto), Ballast, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and I’m starting to dig into the Claire Denis catalog and it’s proving to be rewarding (I’m new to her, my first movie of hers I saw was 35 shots of rum, which was one of my favorite movies that came out in 2009)

Until next time…

Our 2 year old and 3 month old love your Broken String album.  They prefer it to any silly kid or baby cds and “The Monitor” through “Chinatown Bus” has been part of our daughter’s sleep routine for over a year.  Any chance you’ll be playing live in Northern California (we’d leave the kids at home)?

I’m a little upset that my epic Little Rock fail didn’t make your memorable moments from the tour, haha.

    Also, buy some viagra…or something.
