Bishop Allen vs. Hellbeast

Written by Keith on June 21, 2009

Greetings from San Francisco, the old home of Jerry Rice and Joe Montana is tonight’s home for Justin Rice, Jo’s Truly and the whole tour posse.

I haven’t been getting as much internet access this tour as I had hoped for, so I apologize for the delay.  Here is a quick summary: the tour is going well.  We had a nice time in Asheville with our friend Andy.  Some could argue that we had too nice of a time with our friend Andy, but I’m not going to weigh in on that one just now.  Another cool thing was our superfan Ethan from Atlanta came to our shows in Chapel Hill, Memphis, Little Rock and Dallas. That’s dedication, my friends.

The highlights for me have been Dallas, Austin and Los Angeles, which, not so coincidentally, have been the shows where my family and super friendy-friends have been.  At SXSW we had a couple good fun shows, a very short showcase and a good amount of free time to watch bands and hang with close friends.  (Marnie Stern and Phosphorescent are the only two bands I really saw an entire set of, if i’m being completely honest, but both were really good.)  Some of the better human beings in the world live in Austin, so it’s always nice for me to go back to my old home.

A lot of people are always asking me: “keith, you are a healthy guy!  What do you eat on tour to stay healthy”  Today’s answer would be:
Apricot and Blueberry Muffin
Apple Fritter
Cheeseburger (animal style from In n Out Burger)
Almond M&M’s
Raisins, Nutter Butters
One Carrot
Water
so, i think if you closely follow a diet similar to this, you will feel good about yourself and your future.

One of the great things that has happened in the last couple days is that we have added a new band to the tour: The Miniature Tigers.

We have only played two shows so far with them, but they are super nice, talented, charming dudes and they have a really elaborate handshake that I witnessed last night.

The bummer side of things is that last night was our last show with our friends in Singsing & Marmar.  I will miss those guys quite a bit, and I am bummed that I don’t get to see them play every night for the remainder of the tour.  I miss them already.  Except for Michael, as he is in my band, and is actually sitting right by me now.  I don’t miss him at all.

Oh, and as far as the Hellbeast goes.  Last night in LA, our friend Houston let us take over his apartment, which was an extremely generous offer.  Unfortunately, his cat Baby wasn’t having it.  So, long story which i’ve already told several times today, I got one hour of sleep because i was sharing a room with the world’s most terrifying cat.  Here is a video of the cat.  This is the cat behaving pretty well.  SCARY.
